Desperate for a cheap getaway? Consider these budget-friendly Turkish holiday destinations
Turkey is becoming a more popular holiday destination for UK tourists. But if you are looking for a last-minute and budget-friendly getaway, what destinations does Turkey offer?
In 2024, 4.4 million British tourists visited Turkey, an increase of 16.6% from 2023, according to Travel Weekly. But only a small percentage of those holidaymakers would have ventured off the beaten track to lesser-known destinations.
Take, for example, Çorum, which is considered the cheapest Turkish destination for budget travellers. That’s according to travel experts Istanbul Tickets and Tours.
The travel company analysed cost metrics, such as flights, hotels, and dining out in Turkish cities before calculating a score out of 100 for each one. The cities were then ranked to determine which ones are the cheapest to visit. But just how cheap is cheap, and can you still have an amazing holiday in these budget-friendly locations?
Magdalena Petrusic, travel expert from Istanbul Tickets and Tours, commented on the findings:
Turkey has many amazing cities that tourists can explore without breaking the bank, ensuring they can enjoy travelling without worrying about a strict budget. The data reveals which Turkish cities budget travellers, students looking for a cheap trip, or families looking to plan a summer holiday should add to their bucket list.
When looking for the perfect holiday destination, there is more to look at than just the price alone. It’s all well and good finding an affordable holiday, but what’s the point if there’s nothing there that appeals to you? Here we did some additional research about the travel expert’s suggested destinations.
