The end of the year is near, so don’t lose out on Google ad credits!

Search engine giant Google is giving its small-business customers $340m in ad credits, which can be used towards future ad spend, until the end of 2020 across Google’s Ads platforms.

This gesture is part of a larger commitment from Google to support SMEs as they come out of global lockdown measures and get back to business. The first thing you need to do is to see if you are eligible.

Do I qualify?

The offer started 1st of July and will be launched and auto-applied to all eligible customer accounts globally. If you used your Google Ads account to purchase online advertising in the last 10 months of 2019 and/or in January or February 2020 you should be eligible. There is no application process. Basically, if Google determines your business is eligible it will automatically grant your account up to £800 in credit (USD1,000 equivalent), which will show up in your Google Ads account.

One size fits all?

According to Google, the ad credit amount will vary by customer based on past Google Ads spend, the billing address of your country, and the currency of the Google Ads account.

“Each eligible customer will receive one credit up to a maximum amount of what is equivalent to $1,000 USD. We focused on reaching our small business customers broadly with an ad credit as a gesture to show our support and solidarity with these businesses as they continue to engage with their customers,” according to Google.

As an additional resource to help you manage your business through the anticipated downturn, Google has created the Google for Small Business site. There are free lessons on skills and also software applications, for example, Primer, which can be used to help small business owners with customer and sales analysis among other tasks. Primer’s site also provides a section dedicated to business ‘Success Stories’ for inspiration.
