New Canva product suite could boost freelancer earning power

Canva, the no-code design platform, has launched a new suite of visual communication products that are aimed to empower anyone to design and communicate their ideas. Whether you’re a small business owner, a nonprofit, a teacher, an individual content creator, or an enterprise organisation, these tools could make your pitch stand out; help you coordinate better with clients; boost your social media engagement and add to your freelance services, enabling you to boost your earning power.

Video tools

Since Canva launched Canva Video, its community has created over 1 billion videos – and now there’s a suite of new features to make the video creation and editing process simpler and more enjoyable. This is a cost -saver for freelancers and another revenue avenue for them to explore. Gone are the days of needing expensive software or advanced training to create professional and engaging videos.

Canva docs

Canva Docs can range from proposals to project plans, to-do lists, strategy documents, or even travel itineraries; documents are a timeless way to communicate your ideas.

Canva Websites

Clunky coding, uneditable web designs, and costly website hosting are now a thing of the past, says Canva. Canva Websites promises a new way for people to build beautiful, responsive, and interactive websites for any device.

Canva Whiteboards

Canva Whiteboards are now available to the entire Canva community. Whiteboards can be used to help collaborating freelancers and their clients bring a fresh approach to shape and explore ideas together, combining the ease and simplicity of Canva’s editing experience with a new infinite canvas and a range of features designed for brainstorming and team collaboration.

Purpose-built for team members to quickly and easily jump in and add their thoughts, no matter where they are in the world or what device they’re working from, making remote work and asynchronous collaboration more fun and seamless.

Cinematic presentations and presenter tools

Canva’s Presentations  now include dazzling new transitions including Match and Move, which recognises images or text across two different slides no matter the size, location, or colour. In the click of a button, these elements smoothly transition to give an animated look and feel, and make slides even more cinematic.

Following the launch of Canva’s new Video Suite, you’ll soon be able to choose to edit your presentation as a video. Switch from the traditional thumbnail editing view to our new timeline, which reveals an intuitive slider to help you get a sense of timing, or to add and perfectly sync multiple audio tracks in seconds.

They have also launched Data Visualizations 2.0, which allows freelancers to transform data (including spreadsheets) into animated and interactive data visualisations fit for any Canva design. Whether you’re looking to create an animated bar race, a drill-down sunburst, or an interactive pie chart – it’s now easier than ever to make complex data more engaging and understandable for any kind of audience.

Finally, for anyone who’s sick of hearing the phrase ‘next slide, please,’ Canva’s new Remote Control, multiple presenters can now connect to a virtual clicker from any device to navigate and manage slides, remotely or in person. Whether standing on stage using your phone or presenting in a meeting from your laptop, you’re in control of your slides.

Canva Print catalog

You can now design and create more than 35 different print products – simply create your design, and with the click of a button, Canva will deliver it straight to your doorstep. It doesn’t end with posters or flyers – you can now print everything from hoodies to mugs, photo books, and even baby outfits in just minutes. For its community in the United States, users can now also choose to collect their Canva Print order in-store at around 1100 FedEx Office locations, or Staples for Canadian-based users.

Committed to ensuring a sustainable future, they will plant a tree for every print order placed with them. So far, they’ve planted 2.4 million trees and are committed to planting 5 million by the end of 2022.

Canva for Teams

Whether you’re a team of 2 or 22,000, the new Canva for Teams product has been built to grow with you. With Canva for Teams, they are introducing new features to help every kind of team collaborate to build and scale their brands, engage audiences, and stand out with compelling content – all while having fun.

New team management features allow you to set permission levels for team members based on whether they should be making templates for everyone to use, or making the most of consistent team templates that have already been designed using your company’s Brand Kit.

Track how your team is using Canva with our advanced team reporting features, and measure the effectiveness of the work produced in Canva for customers or clients with Design Insights that show you the number of views, and who’s engaging with your content.

Being a Force for Good is an incredibly important part of our mission at Canva, so we’re thrilled to announce that all of these new features, and the whole of the Canva for Teams platform, will also be available for free for eligible nonprofits, for up to 50 team seats.

Developer Marketplace

Canva says it has been “quietly partnering with some of the world’s best developers, freelance and integration partners to help build the future of Canva.”

They have launched an App Marketplace, powered by the new Canva API. Their App Marketplace will make Canva the world’s most pluggable platform and allow any developer anywhere to build directly into Canva.

“For the first time, we have opened up our design engine to developers all over the world, giving them unprecedented flexibility to create apps and integrations’ in Canva. Some of our most recent apps and integrations include Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Photos, Google Drive, Dropbox and Bynder – and this is just the start.”
